2012 Alumni Luncheon
Our Kappa Alpha Theta alumnae are proud to support the Nashville Area Panhellenic Council and its scholarships! Through generous donations and silent auction bids the Nashville Panhellenic Council was able to raise over $4,000 - which will fund four $1,000 scholarships to local high school seniors attending a university with Greek life again next year. |

Kappa Alpha Theta Announces the Retirement of Lissa Bradford
NPC chairman. Fraternity president. NPC delegate. 22 Grand Conventions attended. After more than 43 years of service to Kappa Alpha Theta, Lissa Luton Bradford will retire at the National Panhellenic Conference meeting in October.
Bradford’s retirement concludes a remarkable career of distinguished and dedicated service, not only to Kappa Alpha Theta but also to the entire Greek world. Her profound effect on the fraternity movement has been recognized on numerous occasions. She received the Order of the Star and Shield from Phi Delta Theta, only the third person to earn this highest honor to a non-Phi Delta Theta member; the Order of the Diamond from Kappa Delta, which is presented to “… outstanding women who have made extraordinary contributions to the Panhellenic world”; and the Distinguished Service Award from the Fraternity Executives Association, the second woman to be honored for her work toward the betterment of all college fraternal organizations. . . more |

Service Trip
By: Callie Marie Healy
This summer I attended the Kappa Alpha Theta Service Week in Santa Fe, New Mexico. Like many events in our grand fraternity’s history, this trip marked another “first,” for the fraternity and for all Greek-letter organizations, the first international Greek service week. It also marked a new experience for me—a chance to leave the “Vandy bubble” and meet Thetas from across America (and Canada!) As I landed in Albuquerque, I still didn’t know what to expect. I was excited to meet new Thetas and devote time to service, but I was also nervous going into a situation where I didn’t know anyone. Once I got talking to some of the girls, however, it was clear that this would be a week of new friends and fun memories. . . . more

Flaming Festival Welcomes Amy Grant |
It was told that if you mentioned aloud that Tamara Hermen was actually and truly a member of the Amy Grant Fan Club, Tamara would turn red. Tamara remained red-faced all day as Amy was the speaker/entertainer for Kappa Alpha Theta’s Flaming Festival, AND Tamara was honored as Theta of the Year. Fortunately, she looks good in red!
A crowd of some four hundred women attended the luncheon at OKC Golf and Country Club, during the Festival. Many came because they too were Amy Grant fans. No wonder! She was approachable, down-to-earth, extremely spiritual about her life, and just darling. Amy is married to Norman, OK native Vince Gill, who is in the Country Music Hall of Fame. . . . more |
JEANIE NELSON TOOK HISTORIC
STEPS AT VANDERBILT; NOW SHE
HELPS SAFEGUARD HER TENNESSEE
HOMELAND
In the spring of 1969, Jeanie Nelson graduated from Vanderbilt University. She was a member of the Alpha Eta Chapter of Kappa Alpha Theta, and, as Theta sisters often do, Nelson and her friends formed a tight-knit bond, attending college events and participating in various activities together while living in the chapter facility.

|
Following commencement, Nelsonfound herself armed with an undergraduate degree in English and an opportunity to continue her adventures with four of her Theta sisters. They packed up to go to London, as two of them (including Nelson) had been selected to work for a year at a brokerage house in London. This opportunity had been extended to them by 1936 Vanderbilt alumnus Walter C. Wattles. (Wattles was the father of another Theta sister, Louise Wattles Moreland). . . . more

Alpha Eta Chapter
Kappa Alpha Theta
At the 2010 Grand Convention Awards in Tucson, Arizona this past June,
Alpha Eta received three honors that distinguished our chapter’s performance
over the past two years.
Donations to CASA: Winner
Led by generous proceeds from our Fall BBQ, we raised $12,459
for CASA, making us the top-giving chapter for our organization’s national philanthropy.
Excellence in Facility Management: Runner-up
Distinguished by our newly constructed and redecorated house,
our chapter’s facility management was recognized, not just for its upkeep
and maintenance, but also for its attractive, comfortable and functional furnishings that create a warm and welcoming environment
for both visitors and members.
Silver Kite Honor
Our chapter was rewarded for meeting all four points of the kite and
reflecting fraternity values and excellence through achievements
in academics, philanthropic activity, alumni relations and leadership.
